Research Interest
Dr. Soodalter's research interests focus on improving our ability to think and talk effectively about death in general, and end-of-life care planning in particular. Her research takes a broad interdisciplinary approach that has included collaboration with scholars in fields ranging from art History to economics to archaeology and more. Her work to date has included qualitative study of death experiences and attitudes among patients with colon cancer, as well as collaborative public workshops and paneled film screenings exploring death-related topics through interdisciplinary lenses.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Soodalter practices palliative medicine, with particular interests in hematologic cancer and stem-cell transplant patients.
Educational Interest
Dr. Soodalter is interested in improving medical students' preparation for death and end-of-life care through exposure to interdisciplinary perspectives and types of knowledge and inquiry.
