Profile
Abdominal pain or discomfort are the main reason for physician visits in patients with gastrointestinal disorders. In about half of the patients, no distinct abnormality can be found, suggesting that changes in sensory function contribute to the development of symptoms in these individuals. Dr. Bielefeldt’s research focuses on changes in sensory nerves innervating the gastrointestinal tract.
