Research Interest
Dr. Yadav’s research interest is in the study of epidemiology of pancreatic diseases. He has used local, state and national level data as well as collaborative studies to define various aspects of the epidemiology of pancreatitis. His major contributions to the scientific literature include the role of alcohol and tobacco; incidence, prevalence and hospitalizations; risk and burden of readmissions; and the natural history of pancreatitis. Data generated from his studies are often used by national agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health to set research priorities.

Dr. Yadav’s research program is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. He holds leadership positions at the national level as the co-chair of the Adult Chronic Pancreatitis Working Group of the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC), and co-chair of the Type 1 Diabetes in Acute Pancreatitis Consortium (T1DAPC). He is the co-principal investigator on several ongoing multicenter studies in pancreatitis, including PROCEED, SHARP, DREAM and ACCESS-AP. He is a member of the North American Pancreatitis Studies (NAPS2) consortium, which has prospectively ascertained the largest prospective cohort of patients with recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis in the US.

Dr. Yadav is frequently invited to national and international conferences and seminars to discuss his research. He has also been involved in the development of consensus and practice guidelines for the American Pancreatic Association and PancreasFest on different aspects of pancreatitis.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Yadav specializes in the evaluation and management of pancreatic disorders. He also treats patients with all types of general gastrointestinal problems.
Educational Interest
Dr. Yadav has a special interest in teaching medical students, residents and gastroenterology fellows. He regularly conducts a Journal Club for GI trainees. He developed and co-directs the Enhancing Mentoring to Improve Research in Gastroenterology (EMERGE) program for the UPMC Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

He is regularly invited as a speaker, panelist or moderator at national and international meetings for the American Gastroenterological Association, American Pancreatic Association, PancreasFest, and the NIH sponsored consensus conferences. He has also served as a faculty mentor at the National Pancreas Foundation Annual Fellows Symposium on several occasions.
