The UPMC Digestive
Disorders Center (DDC) is a convenient point of access to the full
range of digestive health care services offered at the University
of Pittsburgh Medical Center. DDC physicians and other medical staff
have expertise in inflammatory bowel disease, swallowing disorders,
cancer prevention and treatment, pancreatic and biliary diseases,
functional bowel disorders, nutrition support, and related gastrointestinal
disorders and concerns.
The UPMC Digestive
Disorders Center’s integrated approach to diagnosing and treating
gastrointestinal diseases provides patients with the highest quality
of care. DDC physicians coordinate all aspects of patient testing
and care and are responsible for communication with referring physicians,
providing a seamless continuum of care.
When
a person has a severe or complicated digestive disease, a specialized
team of health care experts may be needed. In these cases, direct
referral to one of UPMC’s digestive health centers of excellence
is possible:

The UPMC Digestive Disorders Center and the GI Lab are
located on the third floor of UPMC
Presbyterian, 200 Lothrop St., in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh.
The Digestive Disorders Center offers inpatient care at UPMC Presbyterian,
UPMC
Montefiore, and Magee-Womens
Hospital, also in Oakland. Outpatients may be seen on the third
floor of UPMC Presbyterian.

The UPMC Center
for Liver Diseases is a convenient point of access to the full range
of liver disease care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Our hepatology specialists have a wealth of experience in managing
every stage of liver disease. The UPMC Center for Liver Diseases
offers referrals to a number of subspecialists, including experts
in hepatobiliary and transplant surgery (via the Thomas E. Starzl
Transplantation Institute of UPMC), therapeutic endoscopy, pathology,
and oncology.
Hepatologists
at the Center coordinate all aspects of patient testing and care
and are responsible for communication with referring physicians,
providing a seamless continuum of care. They also provide a 24-hour,
seven-day-a-week hepatology consult service.
Whether being
seen for surgical evaluation, hepatobiliary disorders, chemotherapy
for hepatic cancer, evaluation for transplantation, or admission
to a clinical trial, the Center’s integrated approach to diagnosing
and treating liver disorders provides patients with high quality
care in a timely and convenient manner.

The UPMC Center for Liver Diseases is located in the Kaufmann
Building, 3471 Fifth Ave., Suite 900, in the Oakland section of
Pittsburgh.
The Center offers
inpatient care at UPMC Montefiore, UPMC Presbyterian and the UPMC Cancer Centre at UPMC Passavant.
Outpatients may be seen on the third floor of the Falk Medical Building.
Transplant candidates
and patients referred for transplantation evaluation are seen by
the Liver Transplant Service at one of its locations: UPMC Presbyterian,
Children’s
Hospital of Pittsburgh, or the VA
Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Highland Drive Division.
