Research Interest
Dr. Abdel-Massih's research interests include infectious complications in transplant recipients, cytomegalovirus, fungal infections and bacterial resistance. She is a co-investigator on multiple clinical trials. She also has a special interest in telehealth models of care applied in the infectious diseases specialty.
Clinical Interest
Dr. Rima Adbel-Massih, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases. She joined the Transplant Infectious Diseases group upon completion of a transplant infectious diseases Fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Her major clinical interest are in the field of infections in solid organ transplant recipients as well as infections related to artificial heart and lung devices. Dr. Abdel-Massih is a member of the Antimicrobial Management Program and Director of Education for the Division of Transplant Infectious Diseases. Dr. Abdel-Massih also has interest in developing and instituting models of telemedicine service in infectious diseases.
Educational Interest
Dr. Abdel-Massih is the Transplant Infectious Diseases Education and Fellowship Director. In 2013, she was appointed Associate Program Director for the General Infectious Diseases Fellowship. She mentors infectious diseases fellows in their training and helps them maximize their educational experience by individualizing their second year of training based upon their career path and interests.
