Research Interest
Dr. O'Doherty's overarching research interests are in questions related to the association between states of over nutrition and resulting metabolic disturbances, most notably obesity, NAFLD, and Type 2 Diabetes. Dr. O'Doherty has accumulated nearly twenty five years experience in this arena, utilizing a range of metabolic, physiological, biochemical, molecular and immunological approaches in a range of models, notably the mouse and rat, primary tissue culture, and immortal cell lines. The major foci of his current research efforts are in the area of immunometabolism, that is the role of immune system in the regulation of metabolism.
