Dr. Ling joined the faculty of the Division of General Internal Medicine and the Center for Research on Health Care in 1999. He subsequently received a career development award from the National Cancer Institute to assess the delivery and utilization of colorectal cancer screening and evaluate the patient-provider interaction as it relates to screening. The results of this work have led to additional funding from the National Cancer Institute and to a VA merit award for a multisite intervention trial. In addition to pursuing his own research, Dr. Ling serves as the associate director for research in the Institute for Doctor-Patient Communication at the University of Pittsburgh.
