Dr. Bui joined the faculty in 1999 as medical director of the Program for Health Care to Underserved Populations (PHCUP) within the Division of General Internal Medicine. She is a clinician-educator with a focus on vulnerable populations, such as the uninsured, immigrants/refugees, homeless, and individuals with substance use disorders. The PHCUP coordinates volunteers and student service-learning activities at five community sites, including the Birmingham Free Clinic, the only free clinic in Pittsburgh. Since 2006, Dr. Bui has also directed the Global Health Track of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She helped develop courses on public policy and clinical skills training for health care providers in resource-limited settings.
