Research Interest
Dr. Stern completed a research project with a graduated medical student at the University of Pittsburgh. The subsequent publication, "Giving Back: A Mixed-Methods Study of the Contributions of US-Based Nigerian Physicians to Home-Country Health Systems," was published in Globalization and Health in 2016.
Clinical Interest
As a general internist, Dr. Stern enjoys caring for all adult patients with a wide variety of medical issues. She also has advanced training/expertise in women's health issues. In addition, Dr. Stern feels strongly about "giving back" and has participated in three medical missions to the Ukraine, Haiti, and Honduras.
Educational Interest
Dr. Stern teaches a first-year medical student course at the University of Pittsburgh on patient/physician communication. In addition, she teaches third- and fourth-year medical students who have chosen to participate in a women's health elective. The students see patients with Dr. Stern and receive feedback on their performance.
