Clinical Interest
Alda Maria Gonzaga, MD, MS, joined the Division of General Internal Medicine faculty in 2004 focusing on adolescent and women's health. In 2006, she established the Progressive Evaluation and Referral Center (PERC) housed within the UPP General Internal Medicine clinic to accept patients with chronic health concerns transferring care from pediatrics to adult-oriented health care.
Educational Interest
She was appointed Program Director of the Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program 2008 - 2021. (http://www.residency.dom.pitt.edu/medpeds/). She has always had a strong interest in patient-doctor communication skills, including motivational interviewing and universal precautions for patients of varying levels health literacy. She has a strong commitment to mentoring the physicians of tomorrow.
She is involved at various levels in the medical school's diversity and inclusion efforts.
