CME and Registration Information

The Update in Internal Medicine course provides continuing medical education (CME) credits for topics presented. Included in the schedule each year are topics that should meet the Patient Safety/Risk Management criteria.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and designates AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s) commensurate with the extent of the physicians' participation in the course.

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM)) MOC program. Participants will earn ABIM MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.

Healthcare professionals are awarded continuing education units based on contact hours. For nurse practitioners, a breakdown of pharmacotherapeutic contact hours will be provided. For physician assistants, UPMC has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to designate AAPA Category 1 credits for activities designed primarily for its own learners and other learners within its network.

Also, each year, applications are submitted to the American Academy of Family Physicians for CME credit and to the American Osteopathic Association for Category 2-A credit.
