Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program

The goal of our fellowship program is to train future leaders of infectious diseases in clinical medicine, teaching and research. The Division provides outstanding educational opportunities, including broad experiences in general infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and specialized training in HIV-AIDS, transplant infectious diseases, and surgical infectious diseases. The UPMC Health System is a leading health care provider, consisting of 16 hospitals in western Pennsylvania, which provides an extensive referral network for varied infectious diseases.

At-a-glance, the fellowship training program consists of:

  • 12 months of clinical training that provides both the didactic and clinical experience required to attain a superior level of clinical competency in infectious disease practice; and,
  • 12 – 24 months of research training tailored to the interest and future plans of the fellow.
